Turn! Turn! Turn!

Hello good people!

Now that Turn is back up and running, with a couple weeks of successful shows under our belts, we wanted to reach out and let you know how you can help support your favorite little performance space. After the scare of almost losing the place, and the subsequent whiplash of learning there could be another year, we were deeply touched by the outpouring of sentiment from people who expressed how much Turn has come to mean to them and to the community. Many folks asked what they could do to help keep this treasure alive.

Although it feels distasteful to appeal for financial help, that is the main area where we could use some assistance. Some of our expenses, like rent, are quite reasonable. Others, like the insurance needed to stay in operation, are more challenging. In the last year, the insurance costs have quintupled. You read that correctly – it now costs five times as much to insure the place compared to a year ago.

As many of you know, all of the money collected at the door goes entirely to the bands (with a small cut going to the person working door).  We like having acts of all stripes – both established and up-and-coming, and that means some nights are busier than others. The club relies almost entirely on sales at the bar to keep operating. So one of the best ways you can help is to come see a show and have a couple drinks!  But we’ve got some other options too, if you’re so inclined.  Here are a few:

1.  Direct donation:  A GoFundMe has been set up for those of you who prefer to donate directly. This is centered around helping out with our insurance costs. Think community radio pledge drive, only we’re a community-oriented venue, rather than a radio station.

2.  Benefit bash:  A bunch of incredible performers have agreed to play benefits for Turn for our tenth anniversary weekend bash later this month! All the door proceeds collected on these nights will go toward supporting the club. We are incredibly humbled by the graciousness of these artists – come see some fantastic shows and join us in thanking them for their support. Check out the killer lineups below!

3.  Merchandise:  We have Turn merch available for purchase at the club, and will soon be selling it on the website as well. Show your TTT team spirit with a T-shirt, hoodie, beanie, cap, or koozie!

4.  Shows:  Support us the old-fashioned way, by coming to a show and buying some drinks, or our new delicious pitazzas!  We have other events too, like comedy happy hour, karaoke, drawing club, makers’ market, Church of Film, and other fun stuff. You can stay abreast of our calendar on the website, on Instagram, through our mailing list, or at the club.

Regardless of whether or how you choose to support, we want to see you!  Most shows are sliding scale and many events are free. All are welcome and we look forward to celebrating with all of you!
